The Making Of "Peg" - Steely Dan
I don't remember who alerted me to this via a Facebook post, but thank you kindly. I think this is a clip from the Steely Dan Classic Albums: The Making of Aja but I'm not sure. Regardless, it's a pretty cool look into the studio during the making of Adult Contemporary classic. "Peg" is off the Aja album that continues to sell all these years later.

Yes, that's definitely from the Classic Albums series. In fact I'm pretty sure 've got that disc around here somewhere..
Those other guitar solos are so terrible it makes me wonder if Fagen/Becker didn't stage the whole thing and and record new bad solos just for entertainment value!
And Becker's description of the background vocals as a "swing band" arrangement is dead on. It really adds a lot of excitement to the song.
Of course, whenever I hear Michael McDonald I'm reminded of this gentle spoof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDojwQ8cJC4

You're right about the film that this clip is taken from, and the whole thing is well worth watching - more than once, in my case. :)
There's a quick overlay of the Classic Album logo and I do remember this from the Making of DVD. Wonderful.
